Oh Sammi Sue

Well, Samantha has been telling me some pretty funny things lately. It just makes me smile, so I thought I have to write them down before I forget about them.

Dance Rules . . . . Samantha started dance lessons a few weeks ago. She is in a mini jazz line (so they do jazz and ballet). I have to admit that when I signed her up, I felt a little bit over my head, but she is so excited about it that how can I complain. It is every monday from 4:30 - 7 pm. Kinda long, right? Well, I learned last week to pack her a little snack in her bag, cause she asked if she could have some monies to buy something from the cafe at dance during their break. So instead we packed her a granola bar and a fruit snack. Everyday she asks if it is dance after school. She loves it, but apparently there are some rules that go along with it. So every monday I get her in her purple leotard, pink tights, put her ballet and jazz shoes in her bag and pull her hair back in either a pony tail or a messy bun. Last week she also had a braid intertwined with her pony tail/bun. Yesterday she came up to me and told me that her teacher Sara said that for dance from now on, you can't wear underwear with her tights and leotard and her hair has to be in a bun. Not in a messy bun, but a slicked back bun. And if this is all done, then they give out ballet bucks. So Sam kept telling me, no underwear and hair in a bun. I just didn't think it was a big deal to have her wear her undies. They hang out a little bit, but she is just a little girl. And the bun thing, well I'm going to have to work on mastering buns. So there you have it, there are definately rules with dance.

BREAKING UP IS HARD TO DO . . . . . . . Samantha came home from school today and looked at me seriously and told me that she broke up with someone today at school. I wasn't quite sure what to say to that so I asked her what that means "breaking up?" She told me that she and Braden broke up. It means that she isn't going to play with him anymore. Then she started to tell me that sometimes girls play with girls, boys play with boys and sometimes girls and boys play together. I asked her if Braden was sad when she broke up with him? She said no, and that maybe they would play tomorrow or the next day. I tried really hard to keep a straight face, cause it was so cute listening to her talk about "breaking up" with someone.

It is so cute and funny to watch her and see how grown up she is becoming. It is super fun!!!

COLORS

So remember the boy band Colors? Well, after a 10 year sebatical they are back!!! My sister Jessica found out they were coming to the Sandy Amphitheater last weekend and called to see who wanted to go and get tickets. It ended up being Jessica, Rebekah and Me. We sat on the lawn, ate some treats and enjoyed some great music. Jessica was definately into the band more than Bekah and me. 10 years ago she would go to all of their concerts, has all of their CD's and had/has a major crush on the drummer. She calls him her boyfriend (cause she couldn't remember his name, it's Ryan). I swear the drummer in all bands is always the cutest. He even came up into the audience super close to where we were sitting. Way fun. After the concert we were walking out and saw some people gathering around Ryan the drummer, so I talked my sisters into going up and saying hi, and getting a picture. We were glad we did, cause he is so cute! It was such a fun Girls Nite!!! I love hanging out with my sisters!

BOYS AND BUGS

Today Sam was out playing with a friend, and when it is just Mason and I he just follows me around. So I went out to get the mail and as I was coming in I saw a grasshopper on the step. I had Mason come over and look at it and he was very interested. He's a boy, enough said. So he crouched down, and I told him to pick it up. He was hesitant and then he told me to pick it up. I said no and then he said something like this.

Mason "Mom, you pick it up."

Mom "No I don't want to."

Mason "Mom, you pick it up and I'll give you a treat."

Mom " I don't want to pick it up Mason."

Mason " You pick it up and I'll give you a treat" then he pointed at me and said "it's your choice"

I still told him I didn't want to and he told me over and over that if I picked it up he would give me a treat and that it was my choice.

Maybe do you think I say that too many times?! I think so. I am constantly giving these little kids choices and letting them decide. But I didn't really think that they would use it back on me, and over something like a grasshopper. Mason Mason Mason, he just says the cutest things and that is what makes me so in love with this little boy.

POTTY TRAINING GONE BAD

Potty training is not this easy. Sitting there and reading a book?! Whose kids will do that? Definately not mine. Mason is 3 1/2, and I've had the thought of potty training him for a while. Truth betold I really wanted to do it before Luella was born. Only buying diapers for 1 kid, wouldn't that be nice. But anyways, we talked about it and he just kept telling me he didn't know how. And he still says that to me when we ask him to pee on the toilet. So I kinda gave up for a bit. Well, this morning after he got up, I asked him if I could change his diaper. He told me it wasn't wet and he didn't want it changed. So we went and I got him breakfast. Well, he was sitting on the other side of the counter and he just looked like he was in deep thought. Deep thought? Yea right, about what?! Then he tells me he peed. Yep, he had peed through his diaper. Not only through his diaper, but on the stool and left a puddle on the ground. Are you kidding me? So I took him in the tub and rinsed him off (with cold water mind you), and put big boy unders on him. I told him I'm not changing any more diapers. So he wore them and I kept asking him if he wanted to sit on the potty. He tried once, but again said he didn't know how. Then I hear his door close, which usually means he is doing some business, if you know what I mean. So I yelled and asked him what he was doing. He told me he was wet. So I had him take me to where he peed and again there was a large puddle on my ground. Lucky it wasn't on the carpet, easily cleaned up. But no more big boy unders. I put that diaper back on him and I am not going to try again for a while. When he is tired of sitting in pee and poop, I'm sure he will let me know. But really, not fun to clean up puddles around my kitchen floor. So we were not sucessful in potty training, and will not be for a while, I'm sure.

SAM, MACE AND LU

These 3 little monkeys keep me on my toes, all day long! They are each so sweet, but don't think that they are angels all the time. It's about the time that I can't take any more of that they do something really precious. (especially Mason, he is the KING of driving me crazy and then redeeming himself) We have our good moments and plenty of our nasty ones.

Sam is my little helper! She has really grown up a ton these past few months. She loves to help with Luella, loves to have her quiet time where she just colors, plays with barbies, plays her leapster, or reads her books. It is so great. She loves her sister and is always so cute with her!

Mason is my wild man. The second he wakes up he is on, and then he is on ALL DAY LONG. He is such a tease, and just loves to have fun. But unfortunately sometimes his fun isn't that much fun for Sam and Lu. Luella knows when Mason is coming and lets him know she doesn't want him in her face. He just loves to get right in there and "tease her" in any way he can. He is always finding fun and crazy things to do. The elastics on the head was all Mason. He found a large elastic ball and starting taking them off and putting them on his head, so of course Sam followed.
He loves to get in anyone and everyones face, not just Luella. Luckily his aunts and uncles and grandparents really love him and allow him to have his fun, for the most part.
Mason's new thing, as of this summer, is cutting with scissors. He loves to get paper and just cut it up into really really small pieces. So I let him cut as long as he cleans it up. So the other day after he was done cutting I helped him get the vacuum out and suck it all up. (notice he is wearing a turtle neck, not only that but also a shirt underneath the turtle neck. He is really into picking out his own clothes). I love that he is old enough to understand helping clean up his own messes.

This just explains Mace, he just loves life. He is pretty care free for the most part. He is really a home body though. Every time we leave the house, wherever we go, as soon as we get there he wants to go back home. He says that Molly misses him. He just loves to be home. He can drive me up the wall, constantly talking and teasing his sisters, but then he can be so sweet. At night when I tuck him in, he always melts my heart. I say "I love you" then he repeats it. Then I say "I love you alot" then he repeats it. Then I say "I love you more" then he repeats it. Then I say "I love you forever" then he says "I love you forever, and ever and always!" Oh my gosh, forget about all the rotten things he's done all day long, that totally makes up for it. And then when he puckers up and gives me a kiss, it is like icing on the cake. (a few months ago he wouldn't let me kiss him and he wouldn't kiss me so I love that he will give me little "perfect kisses")
Little Lu aka my little mellow peacemaker. Lately when I set her on the ground so I can have my hands free, if she is tired she will give out a little cry and then put her face down on her blankie and just lay there. It is sweet. I feel bad cause since she is such a good baby, sometimes I just forget about her. I give her a bottle in her bed and then after she is done, she will just grab her binki and plop it in and hang out til I come for her. She makes me feel so loved. She really loves me, and it is so sweet. She notices when I leave the room, or when I enter. She is just such a sweetheart. I love this little girl!

Ben and I were out and Samantha decided to dress Lu up in her little mermaid costume. Luella just lets her, she really loves Sam!

Even though my kids drive me up the wall, and sometimes when Ben comes home, I need him to take them from me so I can have a quiet moment; I love them so much. They make our house really interesting and exciting!
